How long does it take for a tandanus catfish to reach 20cm+?
Does heating the tank increase growth rates?

Hi jghasseb!

A tandanus's growth does depend on your tank conditions. Feeding them a high quality food and keeping them in a heated tank will certainly boost their growth, as well as regular water changes and a large tank.

How big is your catfish at the moment? Razz

Do you have a picture of him/her yet? If you send one to me I would love to put it in the member's gallery on the website.

I have been super busy so I haven't had time to check the forum as often as I want to, so I apologise for the delayed responses - but now I get alerted to new posts at my work email so I will be able to reply more promptly.

Does your Tandanus have a tank on his own or does he have tankmates? Wink

Sorry I don't have any pictures of him at the moment, but what temperature would be suitable for my tandanus and australian bass?

Tandanus can live in both warm and cold water. Not sure about the Aussie bass.

I kept my Tandanus at 24c when he was young, but now he is older and has grown so much, and is still growing, I gradually cooled down he's water temp so now he is in a cold water tank and is fine.

I choose to keep him in a cold water tank so he wouldn't grow so fast, as I don't have room for a 6 foot tank in my current house and it also saves on carbon emissions Very Happy

How big do Aussie Bass grow?

I don't know how big an Aussie bass grows in captivity but in the wild they grow to about 60 + but more commonly at 40cm

I have just added a heater with my tandanus (called Whiskers) and bass and will soon be adding a black bream. Will the black bream get along with Whiskers and bass?
